Rad City step thru Bolton mod, how did you solve the lack of clearance on the fender?

The Bolton Controller is about 1/2 inch thicker than the standard one. So there is not enough space to squeeze it in on the City.

Anyone who has done this, did you bend or cut the fender or is there some more elegant solution you can suggest?

I used tie wraps to secure the fender. Works better than it sounds. Make sure you put some velcro (just one side to insulate the vibration) between the fender and the controller or it's going to rattle.

I used a tie wrap and a spacer to secure the fender at the top as well. Seemed like it was always moving around. Securely fastened to the rack, it's rock solid now.

And yes, I used tie wraps and a little double sided tape to secure the controller as well. 2 of them, top and bottom, just for back up in case one did let go.

Mine has a couple of years of riding and quite a few miles on that setup without any sign of trouble. Actually just got back from a short ride!

While I'm sure that works, I've found that a roll of 3M Mastic Tape finds all sorts of uses. It's essentially a thick electrical tape. I used it when mounting a small alarm to the frame (attached with zip ties, but a strip of tape on the back of the unit cushions the unit against the frame so it won't damage it), I have a strip on my rear chain stay for chain slap protection, a piece on my cell phone mount so it won't scratch the cell phone, and even a small piece inside the handlebar mount for a keypad to elevate it slightly above the grips.

Yup, same plan only different! I generally do something similar whenever mounting anything.
