My wife has a Wisper 705 eBike and the wired in front light is not particularly bright.

This is a 36v, 5w light using the bikes battery for power.

Can anyone recommend a better / upgrade front light to run of the bike battery.

Alternately, are there brighter battery lights that can be retrofitted to the front fork position as she uses a handlebar mounted bag.

Spoke to Wisper who confirmed that the light is indeed, not too bright. Turns out it is 40 Lux but with a broad spread. The person who I spoke to, advised that he rode a Wayfarer, which does have a slightly better light. However, it is not that much brighter and he uses a separate battery powered front light on the handlebars.

In the end we ordered a Moon Meteor X Auto which has settings of 450 / 230 / 120 Lumens. That way, by keeping the original light, we’re not running a risk of compromising the warranty if anything went wrong. We tried it last night and the 230 setting was fine for the cycle paths and tracks we were using, could clearly see the pot holes and other obstacles.

We also looked at the Cateye similar model, but found that the Moon had a longer runtime and shorter charging time.

We have also added a Moon Meteor Storm Lite that provides 900 lumen as we do ride the cycle paths in the evening.

This way we use the Meteor X for short distance in front of the bike for the track and potholes, etc., with the Meteor Storm to illuminate the distance.
