A lot of mtb'rs like the nylon compound for the softer hit when you 'pedal strike'.

Huh, I wouldn't have thought of that, but I suppose it makes sense.

A lot of my past experience with bikes was that anything flexible meant it was going to break. But material science has hugely improved, so past hassles with breakage seem to be less so these days.
