Which electric system Hub or Mid drive can be turned off and ride like a regular pedal bike?

Direct drive hub motors feel with power off as if you are in 2 sprockets higher than you really are. These can be 10-15 lb with battery. Geared hub motors with power off have an overrun clutch (except gmac) so they feel as if you are carrying same weight (8-15 lb) of supplies or accessories uphill. On the flat, no penalty. Drag of tires depends on the model of tire and fat ones are both unpowered pigs and energy (watthours) hogs when running with the motor.
Mid-drives from bafang, shimano steps. brose, yamaha ehave an overrun clutch so power off they feel the same as the additional weight uphill. Middrives from bosch, except the most expensive, you drag the motor with your feet power off.

On my ebike, the gearing isn't as low as on my regular bike. So the ebike feels like a slug when trying to go up even a modest incline, because I can't shift far enough for mechanical advantage. Try before you buy is good advice.
One of the first things I did when I got my e-bike was to swap out the stock, 42t chainring to a 34t, thus, almost matching the gear inch range of my regular 1x all terrain bike. I like to keep my cadence high, and the motor runs more efficiently. You’ll sacrifice a little on your top end, but pretty much a non-issue for my style of riding, and the type of terrain I ride on most.
