Where does the speed restriction occur in the Vado 5.0? Does this occur in the motor, or in the TCU? I'm in Canada and limited to 20 mph, am interested in derestricting for use on a private track. I'm wondering if I could just purchase a TCU from the US and replace mine. would that derestrict the speed? Thanks.

You need a derestrictor. A 2022 Vado 5.0? Look for this:

In case the site displays in Czech, select EN at the top of the page.

A you intend to ride your Vado on a "private road" let me tell you I got the information above "from a friend" :)

P.S. No U.S. dealer would sell a programmed TCU to Canada. They do not intend to lose their dealership.

Thanks! I will check the link you sent.

I live very close to the US, a 45 minute drive to the nearest us Specialized dealer. I'm not sure I'd even have to tell them I'm from Canada?

I looked at the site you linked, and it says it only works for Vado up to 2022. I'm not sure it works with the new mastermind TCU. I can phone to ask.

There is also https://www.levociraptor.com/, but again, their site doesn't say it works with the handlebar TCU on the Vado.

Write to Katerina at [email protected]. The 2.0E, 2.0, and 2.2 motors are Mastermind. Your Vado has the 2.2 motor. The older motors were 1.2E, 1.2, 1.2s, 1.3, and 2.1.

Levociraptor just cheats the speed sensor and will work. It only produces crap for all the ride data. Nothing will be right except of the ride time...

Go to the lbs in US and they might be able to hook your tcu up to their computer and flip a switch, that is all I understand stands between class 1 and 3.
