When selling a bike with Bosch Nyon, how do I transfer the Nyon to the new owner?

Hi there
I have two Gazelle bikes that I will be selling with Bosch Nyon controllers. I see that I can remove the bikes, in the ebike connect apps. Will that then enable a new owner to have the Nyon reset (or should I do that?) or how does this work? I can only find information relating to the Flow app and transfer of ownership.
I also purchased the lock feature for them. Will that transfer?
Does anyone know?

Cheers

Well taht took 20 seconds to search

✅ 1. Removing the Bike from the Bosch eBike Connect App

Yes — you should remove the bike(s) from your Bosch eBike Connect account before selling them.
To do this:

  • Open the eBike Connect app.
  • Go to My eBikes → Select the bike → Choose Remove.

This removes the link between your account and the bike, allowing the new owner to register it to their own Bosch account.

⚠️ Important: This does NOT reset the Nyon itself — it just unlinks the bike from your account in the cloud.

🔁 2. Resetting the Nyon Head Unit

You should reset the Nyon device manually before handing over the bike.

Here’s how:

  1. Power on the Nyon.
  2. Go to Settings → My Nyon → Factory Reset.
  3. Follow prompts to wipe the data.

This clears:

  • Personal ride data
  • Linked account info
  • Lock feature status

💡 This ensures the new owner can pair the Nyon to their own Bosch eBike Connect account without issues.

🔐 3. What About the Bosch eBike Lock Feature?

This is linked to your account, not the bike hardware itself.

So:

  • If you don’t remove the Lock feature first, the motor might remain locked even after factory resetting the Nyon.
  • You must deactivate the Lock feature in your account before handing over the bike.

To do that:

  • Go to the eBike Connect app → eBike settingsLockDeactivate.

Only then will the bike be fully usable by the new owner.

🛑 If you don’t do this, the new owner will not be able to unlock the motor or activate Lock with their account — even if they factory reset the Nyon.

📋 Summary: What You Should Do Before Sale

  1. Turn off & deactivate the eBike Lock feature in the app.
  2. Factory reset the Nyon.
  3. Remove the bike from your Bosch eBike Connect account/app.
  4. Optionally: let the buyer know they’ll need to download the eBike Connect app (not the Flow app!) and create their own account.

🆘 Still Unsure?

Since Bosch has changed ecosystems a few times (e.g. Nyon vs Flow), the best final authority is Bosch eBike support:

That was a brilliant and comprehensive reply, thank you so much! (I had called Bosch support and they were not nearly as detailed in their response and left off major steps in the process. )
