I just hit my first thousand miles on my Velotric Summit 1 and wanted to share my experience. This is my third ebike. I previously had a Pedego Ridge Rider and then a Surface604 Quad. I believe all three of these bikes address the same type of on road / off road riding (not really heavy duty dirt bikes). I ride daily and usely stay on trails but enjoy jumping off the trail and doing a little dirt riding. I enjoy the rear hub motors and throttle but I try to use the bike to get some exercise too. I'm a finance guy and so I am also all about Value. My primary reason for upgrading was that both prior bikes had motor problems (after many thousand miles). The Ridge Rider was $4K, the Surface $3K and the Summit $2K (These prices have changed and the Surface had the 20AH Battery). The quality of my first two bikes were very good and I enjoyed both of them. I believe they all use good components and quality was not an issue. All three bikes have 2+" tires (I'm not a fan of 4" fat tire bikes).
Power - Goes to the Summit 1 (750 watt vs 500 on the other 2) Truly a 29/30 mph bike. WIll take you up most hills.
Battery - Goes to the Summit 1 (UL and great range for the size)
Style - Goes to the Summit 1 (personal preference)
Service - Goes to Pedego (Even though I believe there bikes are over priced you can't beat their service) / Surface604 replaced parts at no charge and was very very good for a web based company. Velotric uses email and text (no personal contact) which I didn't like (but they were good at responding and helping)
Seats - All good, but not particuarly comfortable.
Weight - All about the same and would like to see them all lighter
Brakes & Tires - All good
Ride - Goes to Summit 1 (I did buy an adjustable stem for the bike and this made it a little more comfortable) / The front shocks on the ridge rider are better but I didn't utilize them so it hasnt made that much of a difference
Value - Goes to Summit 1
Note: I really enjoy that the trottle on the Summit 1 becasue it can be set to go up to 30 mph without pedaling and when pedaling can still feel like you are kicking in at 30mph (although not much more)
I haven't seen many reviews on EBR with the Summit 1 but I am impressed with it. It is marketed as a Mountain Bike and it is not going to compete with the high end mountain bikes, but as a daily rider and an all-a-round fun bike it's really good.
