Court reviewed the Vela 1 model 7 years ago. It’s good to read they moved their steel frame building and assembly to Detroit. The main issue is the non-adjustable seatpost height, this is dealt with by having two frame sizes, with 28” or 26” wheels, and Vela will supply a custom length seatpost if you tell them your seat height preference. They’re Class 1 with a ‘boost button’ which Vela suggest you can press to take off before the cadence sensor kicks in. The 35Nm hub motor, single speed gearing, and rim brakes, suggest the bike may perform best in flatter terrain. I’d be interested to read other’s impressions of how this bike performs when riding up hills.
