Vado headlight flashing

I just got my Vado 4.0 back from the dealer yesterday after they replaced the motor under warranty (long story). The bike appears to be operating OK, but every time I power it on, the headlight flashes twice right after pressing the button. After the start sequence, it goes on solid as usual.

I've only done one ride since then and nothing seems wrong, but I'm wondering what the reason for this behavior is. Some sort of diagnostic "code"? I'll wait a while before calling the shop back since I'm really tired of dealing with them, or maybe I'll just wait for something to go obviously wrong (if it ever does).

Any experience with this or other ideas?

@rochrunner: My 2020 Vado 4.0 does the same thing, after pushing the power on button, headlight flashes quickly 2 or 3 times, then comes on solid a few of seconds later. My wife's 2020 Vado 5.0 just comes on solid a few seconds after pushing the power button. Not sure why the difference, but don't think there is anything wrong on either Vado?

The lights on our 2020 Vado 5s also come on solid a few seconds after pushing the power button. Both bikes have had recent firmware updates but have been this way since we got them a year ago.

It’s a coded message: write down the number of flashes for the year and we’ll decode this winter.

Well, mine used to come on solid. Maybe not related, but there's also something wrong with the bike. Now it doesn't want to go much above 17mph no matter what mode I'm in. Turbo does get it up to that speed quickly, but then it bogs down. And I think it's more an issue of power than an actual speed restriction. Probably something wasn't connected correctly if at all.

I'll leave it at that for now since it's hard to talk about it in acceptable language right now...

If they did a rebuild, make certain they change from the 25kmh limit (which is on most likely) to off.

Thanks for the tip. Just as I was typing "17" it hit me that it was the limit in Canada and might be the problem. It does feel just like when I've hit the 28mph limit and the motor just cuts out.

Yes, it’s night and day different and an easy fix....shame so many bike shops don’t check that straight away: at least where legal.

We've got a 2020 Vado 4.0 on the floor and it did the same thing. My 2020 Vado 5.0 doesn't do it, neither does our other Vado 5.0 on the floor. Talked to the service guys at Specialized and no cause for concern.

I had my firmware updated at the shop yesterday and all is well. Using Mission Control I checked the firmware version before wheeling it in and it was something like 4.0.1. After the update it's now 7.1.1, just a bit of a difference! I still have the startup flash, but I can confirm that it runs smoothly up to 28mph now.
