vado accessories question

I just got a vado 5 and wondering what accessories people like for the rack/bags and what the additional connections are on the front fork and rear are for mount points?

The mounting points on the front fork are for a lo-rider rack, a system invented by Jim Blackburn, to lower the center of gravity of panniers on the front wheel. The mounting points underneath the seat stays near the wheel rim are for a frame lock, which are commonly seen on European bikes.

Any advice on a frame lock?

Any advice on a frame lock?

They are very low security. All they do is prevent the rear wheel from turning, so someone cannot ride off with the bike. But it does nothing to prevent someone from just taking the bike...for that you need another lock. With some frame locks, you can add a cable or chain so you can lock the bike to a fixed object. If you live in a low-risk area, frame locks are useful and convenient. I could not say which brand is good, but ABUS makes them, as well as AXA.

Abus tells me that their Pro Shield 5950 can be keyed so that it can use the same key as the Vado battery. I'm waiting to hear back from them on the dimensions of the opening to make sure it will fit my Vado 6.0. If it doesn't, I'll get the Abus 4960 which does appear to fit but cannot be rekeyed.

Do you have the first one on the front or rear?
The rack goes on the back wheel and then the pack mounts to the rack. My only complaint is that the pack stands kind of tall even if it's empty, and sometimes I catch my foot on it when I'm swinging my leg over.

Hi
Rear rack tube gauge?
I’m trying to find out if I can fit some of my old Ortlieb bags on to the rear rack. Most certainly I have to get new hooks as my old Roller bags seem to be set for 11mm tubing. 11mm should be about 3/8” I guess.
Great if someone have info rear rack, I’m eager to spend money on new hooks. :) Not so eager to spend money on new bags after paying my e-bike.

Measured with a "sewing and knitting gauge" (sort of one sided calipers), they are 11mm wide, but are flatter on the top, maybe 9.5mm top to bottom.

If I fit Vaude bags with the 10 mm spacer (https://www.vaude.com/en-GB/Products/Activity/Cycling-Tour/QMR-Reduction-parts-2.0), the fit is very snug, but needs a very firm tug on the release to get them off, so I use the 13mm spacers which is a bit sloppy, but holds it firm enough.

Thanks a lot for taking your time to measure. I actually took a chance on Tuesday and ordered Ortlieb replacement hooks that are 16mm and comes with 11mm inserts/spacers.
And today when you were replying to my post I took delivery of my Vado 4 ! :)
