Bipartisan bill addressing lithium-ion battery fires awaits congressional action

As electric bikes have grown in popularity, poorly manufactured lithium-ion batteries and electronics have led to a spate of fires. New legislation congressional legislation aims to fix the problem.

This issue weighed heavily in my decision to select Zen over Evelo.

Ravi has stated here, on the website and in a personal conversation that the battery and charger would pass these standards.

Evelo flat out stated they have no intention of gaining UL certification.

Seems to me this type of legislation is going to happen sooner or later.

Dont buy it unless you are sure it is USA/Canada Certified.
Carefull with CE Certification which is mandatory for any Imports into the European Union.

Some Items comming from China bear the CE sign pretending to be European Union certified. However some CE markings are slightly different, these Items are not European Union certified but are put on there to Fool the Buyer that they are.

Same thing here(Though I haven't seen that Canada is moving there as quickly). Another manufacturer kept saying their cells are UL certified, which doesn't sound like the same thing to me, so I bought in to Zen(heck the certification is posted here in the forum IIRC--easy to check that box).
