Sorry for the second post.After many test rides on the Vado, Vado Sl and the Como we ordered a Vado 5.0 Step through for my wife in July. The LBS said it would not be available until mid September.Yesterday the LBS said he checked with his area rep or distributer and was told that they have no idea when the the bike would be available. Maybe February '21. Yikes. I spoke with another LBS in the Tampa Bay area and after a diligent investigation by him he came up with the same bad news. Basically no idea when the 5.0 would be available. The pandemic and China trade issue are probably contributing to the delay. Any additional information about the the above problem would be appreciated. If anyone knows of the availability of a Vado 5.0 Medium Step through please contact me. Thank you, Allan

Can you find a Vado 4 in stock. I bought a 4 because of teh long wait on Vado 5. I can easily get to 28 MPH and easily maintain 20-22MPH in just the Factory Setting on ECO Mode : That includes some pretty good hill climbs : All in Eco : I put 105 miles on in 2 days and still have 2 bars of battery left : Riding Temps of 60-65 Degrees : Used Turbo Boast Twice over a 1 mile stretch just to see How much easier it was . I'm sure there will be a hill in the future I'll try and want Sport or Turbo in : Over-all I'm very pleased : A little less torque and smaller battery : But so what :

The larger battery means a lot, as well as the Specialized 1.3 motor. Also, getting at high speed with the 48t chainring is easier. Many small differences worth their price and waiting.

SO you have ridden a Vado 3 or 4 to know It's a lot less : Or are you going by the specs ? I guess some of the debate would depend how strong of a rider you are on a regular Bike : I'm coming from Riding 30-50 mile Rides at least Twice often 3 times a Week : Riding with Road Bikers when I have a Hybrid : I rode 50 miles 2 days in a Row and never left eco : Average speed said 17 MPH which was more technically : Because all your stops at Roads are in that equation : I barely feel I exercised Compared to when I do that same run on a Non Electric :
So I am basing my Opinion on really not needing a Vado 5 Based on that

Barry - I own another e-bike (Giant Trance E+ 2 Pro) and own two batteries for it: 500 and 625 Wh. I own a third e-bike, too. I have ridden several thousand of kilometres on three different e-bikes, each of them having a spare battery: 576/576 Wh, 500/625 Wh, and 604/604 Wh. Consider me a competent person please.
P.S. I own Vado 5.0 and I really know what gem I have got.

After speaking to my rep, even the ETA's given at the moment are up in the air. Specialized is building a new factory hence the ETA's being all over the place.
I've had about 30 bikes on backorder since April and they were supposed to be delivered in Aug, then Sept, now I'm hearing December. It's not just Specialized, it's across the industry.
Regarding the 4.0 to 5.0 conversation, having a 5.0 myself and my business partner riding a 4.0 (2019 3.0 but it's basically the same thing), the 5.0 is well worth the additional money. It's not just about having the more powerful motor and larger battery but the better drivetrain and brakes are worth the upgrade too. There's no weight penalty so why not get the better motor and bigger battery? Sure budget is part of it, sounds like, in this particular case, that the client wants the bike regardless of the cost.
Your best bet is to go to Specialized.com and select your model in your size and use the "find dealers nearby" and start searching zip codes. I've been getting calls across the US for some of my bikes, that's what happens with limited supply and increased demand.
Also of note, both Tim and Stefan are huge resources (as well as many others) on this board, while you're welcome to question anyone, they both have a wealth of knowledge and are pretty even keeled in their opinions.

Try just googling Specialized Bikes and then Insert your City and sate in the search. I found a LBS That I didn't know existed : They had 30 ebikes on the floor : Even 6 of the Vado SL. The Dealer Search on Specialized Site Never listed them . Not sure why either > All They carry was Specialized everything : When I mentioned to them they didn't come up in Searches on the Specialized Site : They didn't even know about it . So you might get lucky and find someone in your state like I did.
I was planning a 10 hour Drive to another state and back > Ended up I only made a 60 mile round trip.

Good idea. Dealers have to opt into be found on the "dealer search" thing. No idea why you wouldn't want that, we're a small shop and it's nice to show the world what we have.
The one catch is non current bikes. We've got 3 2019 Vado 3.0's and 2 Como 2.0's and those aren't on Specialized's site anymore.
Thank you Brendon and to all that have responded. I did find the bike on the Specialized website ...."Find Dealers Nearby". I'm in Palm Harbor,Fl but found the bike at City Bikes in Washington DC..not really nearby but I'm happy about the find. Thanks to everyone.
