Turbo Vado 5.0: how to set proper preload on seat post? How does performance compare to Kinect?

I got my Vado 5.0 a few weeks ago, and had my LBS adjust the seat post preload because it didn't seem to be working while riding. I can now feel it working, however it feels very discreet, and not a smooth continuous motion that dampens the bumps. I assume this is just how this post works - but does anyone know if there is another method to properly adjust the preload? My LBS loosened it 1.5 turns, so it seems the approach to adjustment is very trial and error. I'm wondering if there is a more quantitative way to adjust it based on weight.

Also, how does the performance of the stock seatpost compare with the connect seatpost?

That style is very trial and error. As are most adjustable ones. I’m assuming there isn’t as much relief as a high end post. I took mine off and threw my Kinekt 2.1 on immediately. I had it on my old bike that I sold so I kept that post and put the original on the one I sold. So can’t comment on stock but love the Kinekt.

Do you need to adjust the Kinect, or does it just work properly out of the box?

There is a preload you should adjust. But it doesn’t require you to remove the seatpost to do it. Best way to do it (if I remember correctly) is to have someone else adjust it while you sit on it (getting on and off repeatedly between adjustments). It’s set right when you sit on the saddle, but the suspension doesn’t compress from just your sitting weight. But it works in the bumps. You can soften it up a bit from there if you prefer.

On my seat post the adjustment says to keep the “screw” inside the frame. Mine is at the bottom, no more room to adjust softer yet it barely seems to contract my 210 lbs (with water and clothes thank you ;) ) when riding. I have multiple seats and stem with the Kinetic post but not this size. I would probably get one in this size at some point

Mine is the same and I am 215 with water and clothes :p. Iam planning on getting a Kinect but need to pull mine out to measure stock length on my Large size bike.
