This is mentioned in a Como thread but I thought I would post a link to the official recall notice from Specialized as it affects a wider (but still quite narrow) range of Specialized eBikes that have an internal gear hub (IGH) More here:

They took months to come up with a fix as the stop-sale has been since late '24.

Dealers have been stuck with inventory costs, unable to sell these bikes for almost-6 months! Specialized offers incentive terms to dealers where they agree to then sell so many bikes per quarter. Stagnant bikes cannot be sold and get old. What are they to do with these dusty bikes that have been sitting, unsalable for half-a-year? It represents thousands in frozen capital. Turn is everything. Specialized cooperate owned stores have been known to mislabel bikes, a 5.0 will be priced labeled as a 4.0. This is eating their own children. 'Oh, you are right, it is a 5.0 with radar and 90Nm after all, but I need to honor the 4.0 price on the bike'. Independent dealers are held to MARK. They cannot sell below that set price as shown on the internet. It will bring in a few in for firmware 'up-dates' which are mostly downloads and downgrades. A few may need a tune or brakes.

Well, without creating a flurry of comments, let me just say that as one of the very 1st owner(s) of 2 IGH's the month they were release (check back in the forums here to read the discussions), and the hell I had to go through, the most inconsiderate customer support, the horrible way I was treated by Specialized Corporate, upon returning both of the IGH's for a full refund within the 1st 30 days of ownership, I can see why nobody would want to buy these junks. Sure, early adopter, they tried, it just wasn't ready for prime time, and I was a scapegoat. I truly hope Specialized can survive the industry turmoil (nobody buying, Yamaha taking over for Brose, etc.), it is surely going to be a very interesting next few years to see who the survivors are in the industry as well as how the companies that do remain support the end users. Let it be known that I, an opinionated Specialized owner, would prefer no other, given my many years of experimenting and spending gobs of money to try out different brands. I sure hope they get their shix together.

@GruUno, Who owns/controls your bikes? Are you the sole master? Can you do what you whatever you want with what you own? Or does another entity own and control 'your' paid for bikes from on high like a monarch.

That particular bike is 90Nm. The battery can be easily swapped with any updated one, such as solid state, the same with the universal fit motor, its off the shelf and non-proprietary. It fits any standard bottom bracket. A Pashley Prospero from England is arriving for this upgrade.

I had a truly weird experience with the chain guard recall on my Turbo Vado IGH 3.0. I had the bike in for a replacement motor (a sensor inside the motor failed, and the motor was replaced under warranty). It took a week for the motor to arrive, but then Specialized would not let the dealer release the bike to me until the chain guard was replaced (which took another week to arrive). Ridiculous. Dealer’s hands were tied.

I think it is a global policy. I could see several Como almost hidden from the view in one of two Warsaw showrooms. Probably waiting for the chainguard (belt guard).

I got a notification on the app today (I'm in the UK) telling me there was a recall and to contact a dealer.
I emailed my local one to see what they say.
