Another thing you can do to potentially tidy things up a bit is have your VLCD5 display point back instead of frontward. That can move it lower and over the stem so it isn't as prominent. The display is easily removed from the axis tilt arms of the handlebar bracket (at least it was for mine).
This is the solution I came up with. I made an aluminum plate with a 1 1/8" hole to fit over the steerer tube with a plate to mount the VLDC5. It has worked well on all the bikes I have applied it to and can be used for either side of the stem. Allows for the bike to be turned upside down for working on if necessary as well as out of harms way in case of a crash.
