Trek Verve+3 battery question

New to the E bike community. I currently have a Rad Bike RadWagon. Not sure if its a 2/3. Happy with bike. Sturdy/heavy. It is what it is. Looking at a second hand Trek Verve+3. Just wanting to know what to look at for in this model? Buying from a private sale so not able to have a bike shop look over prior to sale. Main issue is battery life/condition. Any way to check battery life/charge cycles/condition ? Also, just doing a quick line search, is an OEM Trek battery my only choice for a replacement? Looks like they can be a little pricey.

I have a Verve +3. I have 6000 miles on mine. You should be able to see the total miles on the display. If the battery is fully charged you should be able to see the estimated range. Mine generally shows a range between 45 and 55 miles on the tour power setting. I’ve replaced a cracked rear rim, a worn out rear tire, a new chain and a new front chain ring, all at about 5000 miles. I have lost some battery capacity, how much I can’t say for sure but probably 10 to 20%. I don‘t ride over 40 miles at a time and usually more like 20 miles so range has never been an issue.

These are actually Bosch E-Bike batteries. Yes, the only choice.
