Tips and tricks for Yamaha care and maintenance?

I read through Ravi's general thread on good battery practices and feel like I've got a decent understanding of what to do and why in that regard. I know my way around the bicycle side of things. But I haven't found much out there on how to best care for and maintain the motor or the other electrical parts of my Yamaha Civante. This is my first mid-drive motor and it's the part of the bike I understand the least.

Do any of you have any best practices to share, or tips for making everything last longer and work better? Has anyone had any failures due to rain or snow? Any other situations that should be avoided?

Just keep the motor clean and dry and you should be fine... no regular external maintenance is needed.

You may also want to check the motor mounting bolts for the proper torque at the frame attachment points. ;)

This is good. When I tried a Speedbox install (that unltimately failed), I was getting a clunk when shifting the front derailleur. Turns out that I did not tighten the motor bolts to the frame to spec. I took out the torque wrench to recheck and that eliminated the clunk.

Well done!
