Timer for protecting battery when charging

I found these for sale at Menard for $7.00. It is a power outlet with a timer. I plan on using it when I charge my battery so it will not overcharge.

That's an excellent idea! I'm going to start recommending this to customers for now on. All the bikes we sell have an auto-shut off but taking extra precautions can't hurt.

Not sure if it was a "freak" occurrence, but on ONE occasion, I finished charging the battery and disconnected the charger from the wall, but NOT the battery. To my dismay, the battery drained with this arrangement. I wonder if this might happen when the timer cuts power to the charger. I have not replicated this incident (for fear of battery damage), but nowadays, I always disconnect the battery from the charger once fully charged. No more phantom drain.
