What you want is a single speed and there is no shame in that if you feel it is all you require. Just figure out what gear you want and configure your front chainring/rear cog to provide it.

So from a practical standpoint, it sounds like you're speaking of a single speed rear, not a "fixie"?

The have "fixie" rear chain rings on ebay that have a bearing and pawls. I've seen people put just one chain ring on a cassette. I undertand the traditional vernacular but it's not all inclusive.

Is that a Chinese supplier? I've read their manuals. Hardly perfect terminology. But you can believe what you want Ken, it seems important for you to call it a Fixie.
