The"Tech tree".

I feel safe in my forest. I would not want to live with trees 70ft away. I built myself a strawbale house, but I would never build another house again, of any sort. It is a never ending project. But I know it from before the site was even cleared for the foundation, exactly how it was built, which is a lot of peace of mind. And I love my kitchen.
I bet your house is very"restful", for various reasons it would not be a good fit around here, the concept is fabulous. The trouble here with the trees( they fall all the time, especially in a clearing, the soil is thin and the roots cannot go deep, the past dry summers have only exacerbated the problem, the hardwoods are dying big time. I have seen a lot of big trees removed when owners experienced problems.
 
Goats are escape artists. A friend finally ruined any relationship with his neighbor by shooting the neighbor's escaped goats. The goats raised havoc in his Christmas Tree farm. They browsed the little trees. This happened several times so he took action. They were killed. End of any civility.
 
OK "Techers"( made up word I think)How do you feel about the branch of the 'tech tree in relation to EVs in general( other than most of them becoming too bloated) I have Elon Musk's Cyber Truck in particular( do not even mention that Horrible "Hummer" thing( sure you can if you want to)
 
I want them to charge up faster. Waiting a half hour at a recharging station in N. Dasota just doesn't appeal to me.
 
On the subject of gutters if you can get along without them do not install them.
Insurance companies in Indiana will not insure a house without gutters. Limestone Karst base develops a lot of holes. Hole ate the parking lot and corner of pizza delivery restaurant in Charleston 5 years ago.
Subject of electric trucks, I'm eyeing a diesel. My last truck. I view 7.3 L Navistar/Ford without emission controls or blue def about perfect. I rebuild engines that last ~100000 miles. Will ditch the box the candidate has. I need a flatbed for lumber, 20' metal.
Electric truck may be fine for short hops in Los Angeles or other traffic disaster areas. Not enough range for the $ for work like my brother does. He drives a lot of 900 mile days in Texas inspecting bridges. Senior engineer (2 so rated) has to pickup & deliver the data package personally now to district offices all over Texas. Brother has his truck set up so 3 engineers can enter data and calculate on laptops while one guy drives.

There are always going to be people who legitimately need large, long range, heavy duty trucks for work of some sort. The problem is, there are always going to be people who just want them, to prove their masculinity or whatever. IMO, we need a system where those with legitimate needs can meet them, but those making personal preference choices for show pay for those choices. Yes, "social engineering". But, we already have that (run by those standing this make the most profit) anyway.

When we lived in Italy years ago, the price for car registration was based on engine size - I think most of the EU is the same. As a result (along with actually paying the real price for gas up front at the pump), most people drive smaller, more efficient vehicles.

7.3 IDE, good long distance engine, we have Karst here as well, stopped up gutters are worse than no gutter,the water has to go somewhere if you have a dedicated storm sewer thats great if you are shipping to a live stream or retention pond all the better if the gutter is not overflowing.
 
I have developed a hatred of diesel pickups. I moved here from a logging community and the people who had them, needed them and didn't really add anything. Maybe the few kids that could afford them did a bit, but if anybody in that area was too annoying, somebody had a talk with them and it fixed it. People have to get up early in the morning in places like that. (My neighbor had words with a thief when the local law enforcement couldn't do anything, and got his stolen property returned.)

Here, so many of them seem to have modified the exhaust? to make them noisier. There are more of the diesels and they hit the pedal when they are alongside and it blows out my ears. It just seems like rude boys drive them here. I realize that some folks need them for work but I still hate the noise.

I watched a "youtube" video of this one young dweeb, bragging about what He was going to do to His mighty Diesel truck, when He got to the part about "emissions delete" my hackles rose.
The "self-entitled doesn't apply to Me personage" these days seems to be more prevalent than ever and its sad to think that, these selfish individuals would think its alright to stink up and pollute everyone else's air with their stupidity and that our biosphere goes on forever and its alright to screw it up.
Look at an edge view shot of the Earth, the merest little discoloration on the view is our atmosphere which is necessary for everyone( no exceptions) and even the landmasses( which we love to "Raven") are not all habitable, basically the green and leveler areas are our domain, the Deserts and White areas are not that conducive to life, yet we are going "hell for leather" to destroy the basic legacy of all living things on this "cosmic anomaly" we call Earth( the coffee- shes a burnin')
