The Big 3 and hub drives ?

AFAIK , the Big 3 , Trek , Giant , and Specialized do not currently offer hub drive eBikes , although Specialized may have in the past .
Curious as to why not .

Because geared hub drives can short the winding when forced to climb too far too slowly. Mac said 1000' in an hour. Major brands hope to sell in 50 states. Only CA, ID, CO, MT, OR, WA have such mountains, but serious quantities of ebikes have been sold there. Warrenty claims do not make for great PR.
DD hub drives use too many watthours climbing mountains, accelerate slowly, and generally do not give a positive customer experience in hilly areas or stop & go traffic.

plus the mid drives are very energy efficient only need 36v so the batteries are smaller and they pack the most power for their size. what would be the benefit of a hub drive even with a torque sensor? they are selling to people who want a ebike that feels like a bike.
Yes on the hills I have done 1000 feet in 1.5 miles or less.

A hub drive is an easier plane to fly but lacks natural engagement with the yolk and mechanical advantage of a mid-drive.
