Fantastic post! Thanks for those customization suggestions with pictures, and that coast to coast ride looks like a wonderful first tour! My wife and I have looked into similar UK biking tours and would love to join you, but we can't make the trip from California anytime soon. Not much could be better than a ride like that on a Superdelite! Very nice!I bought a Superdelite GT rohloff HS a couple of weeks ago. Other owners might benefit from some of my alterations:
- Rearranged the position of the controllers to be closer to handle grips
- Fitted an Abus Granit X Plus 540 With USH Bracket underneath the front holder. I used a velcro strap to help take the weight
- Replaced the standard pedals with Deity TMAC Pedals - they are very grippy and quite light. A close second choice was Crankbrothers 7
- Replaced front and rear wheel axels with Hexlox:
- Front: TA15QLOC Black_A2
- Rear: SKEWER_Black_Rear_1HLX
- Added hexlox bolts to seat and seat post - you don't want someone with a hex key to make off with your bike bits!
- FItted Topeak RIdeCase for my phone
- 15 cm Charge cable from Kiox to iPhone: Meenova Lightning-to-MicroUSB Cable
- Ortleib 3.1 rear pannier holders and bags:
- Ortlieb Commuter-Bag Two Urban 20L QL3.1 Pepper
- Ortlieb Back Roller Urban Line Pannier Bag
I've signed up for my first bike tour to test out my lovely new bike. Join me if you can on the coast to coast
What modifications have you made to your bikes? Please share.
Here's the page with the front bag discussion. Thanks for more great modification ideas. I never heard of the "Knog Cobber" light. What model did you get? Looks like you went for the 170 lumens. Nobody should miss seeing that one!I'm still looking for a front bag. Anyone have any suggestions?
Yesterday I actually remounted the light on the top of the bar but i'm not sure it helps all that much. I removed the mount for the computer and light, flipped it over, flipped over the mount on the light. I think I gained a couple of inches but I'm still not happy about how it looks and will probably revert it. The problem is that since the rack fixed to the frame instead of the fork, have to be really careful not to have the bar hit the bag. Moving the light helps but not all that much.
It wasn't too bad. remove the 4 bolts that hold on the handle bar. There is a mounting plate for the kiox and light. remove the kiox and light from that. Flip the mount over, Flip the mount over on the light, screw it all back together.I really want to modify my Kiox and light position. Was it much work @John2911 ?
Lloydt. Nice mods. I have a SuperD GX on the way. What model Ortlieb pannier is that? Does it mount well on the rear rack? Where did you get those nifty straps you uses to remount your lock? Sorry to pepper you with questions! In the US drivers seem really distracted so I work pretty hard on visibility.
Pedals: I was having pedal strike issues when cornering hard, so I replaced the pedals with Shimano PD-T8000. The pedals are asymetrical so the bottom side is much shallower than the top. It haven't had pedal strike since. I occasionally ride with cleats. I'm careful when I do.
- I applied 3m reflective tape in lots of places.
- 3m Spoke reflectors
- Knob Cobber rear light mounted on the rack. I used epoxy to make a mount.
ABUS Lock Mount: I wanted to use the bottle cage, so I mounted the ABUS lock behind the seat using volie straps (and a rubber spacer on the top. Seems quite secure and freed up space.
Bottle Cage: I really like the looney-bin bottle cages. They can hold all kinds of bottles (from thermoses to nalgene).
I'm still looking for a front bag. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've just discovered that my Meenova Lightning-to-MicroUSB Cable is NOT charging my iPhone. It fits and the Kiox reports it is connected, but not charging occurs.
I've ordered an official Bosch usb to lightning cable - I didn't know they did one until today,
