Suntour shocks

Some of the really low-end models will have a sticker warning that the fork is not meant for off-road use. Otherwise, budget forks are durable enough, but are heavy, lack adjustability, and have nowhere near the smooth travel as higher end forks. The flip side is that because budget forks are so unsophisticated, they are very easy to service.

The short of it is that Suntour forks are terrible. One of their nasty traits is if you hit a bump while the fork is locked out, the cartridge gets destroyed and then Suntour will claim 'improper operation' despite the fact that you really did nothing wrong. I had a fork destroyed this way without even noticing it until oil started leaking.

I've also replaced an Aion (top-tier Suntour) fork after it started freezing in winter. It would simply stop working and I got motion sickness (!) from the vibrations. No such problems with the Fox 34 I replaced it with.

Honestly the Suntour forks are typically just 'filler' and not suited for any aggressive riding, but can fail even in ordinary conditions. They exist so you can replace them as soon as possible with something decent.
