Who knew this was even a thing but apparently a British scientist reported in 2016 that facilities for cyclists “resulted in a measurable pollution increase” as “traffic comes to a standstill.”
A recent article in Forbes.com features a Portland, OR study that disputes this; https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlto...motorists-pointless-finds-study/#36b069ea1e3e . The study concluded “Bicycles are not likely to lead to reduced passenger car travel speed, despite their differences in performance capabilities.”
