Stromer ST2s Error Code Assistance? 0X21005

Had a rear flat last fall on my ST2s and had to put in a new rear tube. I was very careful removing the rear wheel and the sensors, however I did not have a torque wrench to 20 NM for the rear axle so took a guess on that (which apparently one is not supposed to do). The bike was fine after the flat, but would not charge the battery. Being the onset of winter I simply parked the bike. Now I'm trying to get it ready for spring and get this error code of 0X21005 on the Omni (see photo). When I cycle past the error code, the display reads N/A on the battery.

I have removed the battery from the bike several times and cycled it to no avail.

I have fully charged the battery off the bike.

Ideas? Bike was purchased from Crazy Lenny's in MN, however I an in the Wash DC region.

Any advice appreciated.

@lilrich has ton of experience working on this. Give them a call and they will offer you help and fix this.

See if you can loosen the rear thru axle and reseat the hub correctly and retighten it.
Sometimes, over-torquing leads to torque sensor errors.

Sorry, Ravi - not familar with @lilrich ? Have additional contact information?

I did try the loosen rear axle, reset and then correctly torqued (bought a bike torque wrench) to no avail.

Also went into the SERVICE menu and the bike is loaded with errors and failures. At this point I may have to take it to a shop, not sure if there is anyone in the Wash DC area capable of Stromer repairs, however.

@lilrich is the ebike tech expert at Lenny's store. He has amazing mechanical skills and can certainly help you with this. If needed, if you take your bike to a nearby shop, he could guide them to troubleshoot and fix it.

If you haven’t already, it would be worthwhile to pull the wheel again and check that the motor control cable is reinserted firmly. It’s a bugger to get lined up properly and takes a good bit of force to seat it.

Good luck and please let us know how it turns out.

I have a few batteries , you may try them , I am in Falls church. I would think it had something to do with the wheel coming off but this could be a way to test. My repair shop is about 2 miles from me too

I had some time to work on the ST2s today and haven't been successful in getting it up and running. A little background - I'm a fairly decent mechanic having worked at several motorcycle shops and do most the maintenance on all my vehicles, however troubleshooting electrics on most anything is not my strong suit if it's much beyond connectivity and shorts or the occasional bad relay / coil pack.

Issues started when I had a flat in the rear, I took off the wheel and replaced the tube. I was careful with the torque sensor plug and wiring on the rear hub. I did not torque the rear axle as at the time I had no tool capable of measuring 20 nm. The bike operated but would not accept a charge to the battery. Winter was coming so I parked it in the basement.

As I get into the bike now I get error code 0X21005, and when you press the button again error code 0X21004. Press OK again and it goes to the main screen where the battery indicator shows N/A.

I disconnected the headlight as per your advice, pulled the battery and charged it off the bike for one hour, until the charger shut off. Reinstalled and same error messages.

Next I removed the rear wheel again as well as the battery - pulled the torque sensor and cleaned the contacts then re-sent and very carefully inspected everything including the wiring harness. I then re-installed and correctly torqued to 20 nm. All wiring harness look good. Turn on the Omni and same error codes (headlight still disconnected).

I went into the Service menu and ran the STI tests. Following are the messages:

BATTERY : E2E V3.22 (3..2.1.5462) Battery Capacity 0 WH COM ERROR
CONTROL: Temperature 0.00 COM ERROR
FRONTL OUT (I had disconnected)
DAYL OUT : fail
BRAKEK OUT : fail
SNM99L : Fail
MOTOR: Com Error
TORQ.SENS: TMM 1.254V
OFSET 1,403V

The Error List was long:

POWER-ONS 195
195 ERR: 210004
195 ERR: 210005
194 ERR: 210004
.....and went on for several screens.....

At this point I am thinking I am probably at the limits of what I can do with the bike and it needs to go to someone who knows their way around the Stromer electrical system. OPIMAX, thanks for the offer! My bike is still under factory warranty at 2 1/2 years old so I should probably take it to a dealer. Which one are you using? I'm in Fairfax Station but its easy for me to take it anywhere in the metro DC area.

Thanks
Duane

My bike is currently at Conte's bike shop in Falls Church . (703) 639-0343

currently my Wife's st2s, brake issues. had it before we bought it, got worse, like to go visit it every couple weeks

I had a soft and spongy front brake on my ST2s, however bleeding it solved the problem. Its a bit more complicated to bleed these brakes than cars or motorcycles as it requires two syringes to do it, but it was mostly just messy rather than difficult.

Hello drcollie,

I just have the same issue as your in this thread. Can you tell me if the bike shop was able to fix your bike and what was found? Thanks.
