Stefan, Help Needed

Stefan, first off I wanted to thank you for sharing all your knowledge and experience with Specialized bikes. I sold an airplane this spring that I had for 41 years so I decided to splurge on a couple of new bikes for the wife and I. My wife wanted the Turbo Vado step through SL 4.0, she wanted the EQ model but none available in her size, so I got her the non EQ version. I know in the past you have discussed putting fenders on yours, I did a search and could not find the thread, and wanted to know what brand worked for you? She doesn't need a rack unless needed to support the rear fender. Have not received the bikes yet but wanted to get things lined up in advance as summer is slipping by fast. Thanks in advance for any advice.

@Watana Bob:
Bob, the best fenders that can be installed on a Vado SL non-EQ are SKS Speedrockers. These are good for the wheel/tyre size up to 700x42, while the Vado SL can take either 38 or 42 mm tyres. The fenders -- as long as their straps are properly tightened -- do hold perfectly, also during raining. Now, as it regards the rear rack, I know of no better product than Ortlieb Quick Rack. The rack installs in a minute and could be taken off in several seconds and then reinstalled in several seconds!

I swear by both products!

Thank you Stefan! Do the speedrockers rattle at all? I hate fender rattles.

I’m also with Stefan for his great advice. With the speed rockers the rear can seem a little short particularly if you are tiding close behind! SKS sell a cheap clip on extender that helps and a flap can be added to that making it spray free. I’ve done several tours with the Quick rack a found it excellent.
