Is it still worth it to get a Como 5 SL in 2024, now discounted to ca 2000 Euro (or about 2100 USD)? Mostly for commuting in a somewhat hilly area. I like the looks of the yellow version, and I like the upright sitting. I don't need removable battery, even though I'm a bit concerned about costs for replacing the battery in some years. My main cause for being hesistant is its somewhat weak motor, with only 35 Nm Torque. However, I've been using a few years old e-bike with only 40 Nm and finding that more than enough powerful.

In my opinion, you should rather look at the full power Como, even the version 3.0. I ride a Vado SL, and despite having the same weak motor, I'm very glad. However, I needed to replace the drivetrain to enable the e-bike to really climb the mild hills! The full power Como 3.0 motor has the actual torque of 68 Nm (not 50!), so it would be adequate for your needs.

Alright, thanks... sounds concerning if the bike can't handle mild hills without modification.. I'm not against using a bit of my own legmuscles but I would like to be able to climb hills sweat free. The regular Como is at least 1k more expensive.

Sweat free? You actually need a "full power" e-bike such as the Como. It obviously comes with a larger battery, significantly affecting the price!

Hey! The Como 5 SL seems like a solid choice for commuting in a hilly area, especially at that price. I can see why you'd like the upright riding position and the yellow color is pretty sweet. Yeah, the 35 Nm torque might not be the strongest, but if you've been getting by with 40 Nm, it's probably gonna be fine. Just something to keep in mind for battery replacement down the line. But overall, it seems like a good deal. If you're comfortable with the specs, I'd say go for it!

You want the Vado/como 4.0 at a minimum. I think the Vado is better but whichever you prefer.

Perhaps I should clarify that it’s not about racing hills, but getting up paved hilly roads relatively effortless when commuting. As a 40 nm bike did it relatively easy I thought the Como SL would as well, but maybe I am mistaken. I’m 43 and not unfit.

So I bought it and thought I should give some feedback.

I'm very happy with the bike. It's light and sleek/stylish and performs in line with my expectations, ie it's not the most powerful motor but I can get up rather steep slopes without sweating even though I have to put in some muscle-wattage. Especially happy considering the price. Thanks for all the feedback.
