If you're mostly riding on dry pavement, you can add a front hub with minimal riding adjustments. For a wet environment or gravel grinding you might need to change out tires and adjust your starts on low, minimum or no assist. You can adjust your riding style to manage front wheel traction. Switching from a human powered cycle to assisted cycle is always an adjustment for anyone.
You note some confusion. You will get more feedback if you provide more information and ask specific questions. How much power and speed do you want from this conversion? Are you riding paved or gravel? Hills? Weight of rider and cargo? Is the bike and fork steel or aluminum? The welds give the appearance of steel. Anything you can add will help.

Trike is steel construction with no suspension. Weight of rider is 220 lbs and speed desired is 25 MPH. Live on an island, so mostly flat riding on paved bike trails.I own a 40 ft. class "A" motorhome with a motorcycle lift mounted on the rear and plan on caring the trike around to parks located on lakes which usually are hilly with unpaved surfaces. I like the idea of a thumb or twist throttle rather than the sensor. Caliper brakes on front wheel and disk on rear axle. Only way to power this is with a front wheel as the rear is too complicated with 14 speed derailer. 2 front 7 rear.

with a mid drive you don't need the two front gears. We've seen proof on scores of conversions. But each to their own! All good!

I have a friend with a rear conversion from ebikekit.com. Great kit, solid customer service and his is about 4 years old and going strong. They have a front wheel, 20" version of the same motor. It's not the least expensive kit on the market.

Even though you have a steel fork it's advisable to add one or two torque arms. Grin Technologies makes good torque arms. Speaking of Grin, check out their conversion kits as well. You can't go wrong buying from them.
