Second set of wheels for my Hydra

I plan on using my Hydra for both trail and street riding so I want to get a set of carbon wheels for the street. I have a set of Schwalbe Super Moto’s in 27.5X2.8 that will be perfect for my street setup. I’m looking at Nextie wheels but have no experience with them as far as quality goes. Any suggestions or feedback as far as the quality of Nextie wheels? I want these to be a quick swap set of wheels so I’ll have to match components that come on the bike, ie hubs, brake rotors, and cassette.

@Cuz Vinny - Nextie are the schiznick!! That is why I am getting them in 29er and 26fat. But rumors are that the Kindernay cage is not a super fast swap; just possible to swap. The front is new hub- I assume!

On one of my analog bikes with disks and identical Chris King hubs, I have a 26x2 and cc700x23 tire sets. I still have to tweak the disk calipers to the disks at each swap....(hope that makes sense!)

I’d have matching hubs, brake rotors and cassette to what came on the bike. That way I can swap them quickly without issue.

in Pushkar‘s video he says the bikes with carbon rims are just north of 54lbs. Does anyone here know the weight savings associated with the NEXTIE carbon rims. I was under the impression they were just stiffer and last longer
thanks in advance

I’m not sure your going to notice a very big reduction in weight with the carbon vs the wheels that come on the bike. Maybe @pushkar can give us the exact numbers. I want them for the street because they are stiffer.

That’s what I thought it’s like $800 for a pound and a half shaving or is it a pound and a half per wheel.

I figured it may be around 2 lbs approximately. The benefit is in that the lighter wheel will take less effort to spin it. On the Hydra build site a second set of 27.5 Nextie Carbon wheels was around $1400.00.
2 pounds may be a bit of a stretch. I recently replaced the 27.5 wheels on my Cannondale Neo Lefty 3 with carbon wheels and the savings in weight was around 800 grams.

@pushkar is allowing the choice of weave and decals at an amazing price. I couldn’t pass on this upgrade, thus the second wheel set (26fat and 29er on Kindernay)!!!

I am missing something, why do the rotors?
Found my old thread. How come I couldn’t find it. :D

For the wheels to be a quick swap you need front/rear rotors and cassette so you can just take one set off and put the other on. Makes it a whole lot easier.
