Seatpost size......

So I have a 2016 Townie 7d conventional bike that was just converted to an ebike with a Bafang mid-drive. The thing is the Townie has no suspension. I want to get a suspension seatpost, but I'm not sure what diameter or length, and I tried to find the specs online and could not find anything. Guess I could measure it, but does anyone know offhand, the size of the seatpost on this model/year bike? Thanks....

When we wanted to put Kenekt (sp) seat posts on a couple of bikes they didn't even make that suspension seat post in the right dia. But, they did have a bunch of shims available that would make it fit. Possibly worth knowing about.

I say measure it yourself or pull the seatpost and take it to a shop so they can measure it. There's a possibility that dimension could change depending on when it was built.

There could possibly be a marking somewhere on the original seatpost to indicate what diameter it is..some do. or as the previous comment suggested, remove the post and measure it yourself, or just take it with you to your local bike shop.

Good idea to have a good look at it. I'll bet half or more I've seen are marked....

Most posts have it stamped on somewhere. They can be hard to find and read, but they are often on the post.

The seat post size is 27.2 x 350 mm. I also have a 2016 Townie 7d converted to electric except I used a rear hub.

I bought a Suntour NCX for my Townie but would not recommend. The seatpost itself is nice but you are unable to level the seat in the post mount without it hitting the seat post rails.

Later, I replaced the NCX with a Satori Animaris post which is also quite nice and doesn't rub the rails. These posts used to be a bargin. I paid $55 on Amazon. You can still find one on eBay, but the ask has more than doubled.

Thank you so much for this most helpful response. I so appreciate it. So do you love your converted Townie? Sounds like you do. I am really loving this conversion, but the lack of suspension is rattling my teeth loose. LOL......I was going to go for a Kinect seatpost. I am not a small person, and you can order by weight. Thanks again!

Just out of curiosity, where did you mount your battery on the Townie? Is yours a step-through? If you mounted it on the rear rack, how is it with the weight of the battery plus the hub drive?
