Route Planner Website

Thanks. I like the free maps, but route planning seems a bit awkward compared to other options. I tried pinning my route at major intersections but this tool connects straight lines between pins making mileage inaccurate. By pinning along a curving route I did get the correct mileage and elevation profile, but it takes a bit of time. Other planners will follow actual streets or trails between pins making the process much faster.

Other have reported good results with Map My Ride GPS and Komoot. Both offer fairly easy route planning, GPS route import and save, great maps, and turn announcement features like Google Maps. They aren't free (after the trial versions) but users report being very satisfied.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I found it perfect for my needs. As to exact mileage, most of us have odometers on our ebikes, so you can track more accurately once "en route". What I liked about this one was the detailed map.

I'm sure there are other route planners with options others prefer. YMMV (pun intended).

ridewithgps.com lets you use the same maps and is more cycling-oriented. Also, the route planning is better and you can look at other people's routes.
