Here are a couple photos of an item made by RockyMounts, called the HotRod.

I bolted these to a piece of 2x10 lumber, which simply lays at the front of the bed of the pickup.

I staggered the locations of the mounts to keep the handlebars of two bikes from getting in the way of one another, but I have them spaced far enough apart so that wouldn’t be an issue anyways.

It comes with three different axle adapters for various fork/axle configurations; 12x100, 15x100, and 15x110.

This means removing the front wheel of course, to transport the bike, but I’m OK with that. This keeps the bike from sticking up above the cab, and getting the handlebars all full of bug spatter while driving down the road.

One might contend this arrangement makes it a little more inconvenient for a thief to grab your bike, but like anything, if someone wants it bad enough they’ll figure out a way.

Can’t use the tonneau cover to keep the bikes out of inclement weather this way…

I made something like that so I can haul 2 bikes in my Subaru Baja. I'll try to post a picture. Yours looks much cleaner than my set-up.

It might be slightly less convenient than a hitch rack but, in our case, definitely protects the bikes from the elements and prying eyes. We have this set up in our SUV for road bikes using sections of Gladiator Geartrack panels and the same Rockymounts. Since acquiring a 1Up hitch rack, it’s seen little use but somewhere down the road it will be put back into service in the right scenario. Extra pieces of panels also double as wheel trays.

The channels in the panels allow the mounts to be moved sideways so that the bikes can be re-positioned if required.

That is a nice set-up, PrairieDog.

I rarely carry more than one bike at a time, but this was something I kind of wanted to try- see how I like it.

Funny story about 1UP…I bought one years ago, thought it was TOO nice, and sold it. 😂. There stuff is phenomenal.
