Rize RX 2021: 52v 12Ah secondary battery upgrade

Making a WIP post as I lost my first lengthy draft :(
Please excuse mistakes - I'll update this as I can.

I was frequently running-out my stock 15Ah battery on the Rize RX 2021 on rides about the city and quickly researched range extension options for the new whip.
Creeping around these forums, I saw some good chatter about @Jenny Mao for 3rd party batteries and reached out for max range options.

After a month or 2 of emails, pictures, dimensions we settled on:
  • 25Ah
  • 30A BMS
  • Z624 (F) connector
  • DP 2170-7 case (367x95x156mm)
It took about a month to ship out (was over a few Chinese holidays), but it came well packaged and the seller communicated well throughout.

Install was fairly handy:
The battery and mount were sitting too high on the stock frame mount points, so I had to drill some new holes on the holder to allow the right clearance:

Next step was to replace the secondary battery connector, by removing the primary battery and unscrewing the lower battery retaining hook bolts:

This reveals a XT-60 connector and a load balancer to utilize both of the batteries simultaneously.

The stock secondary battery connector is proprietary; Jenny's team identified that early, had me send dimensions, and they sourced a plug+play alternative:

Install the new connector, re-install the hook plate and screw in the plug to the frame:

I haven't had time to fully test range and performance, but I can confirm at least that the battery works and my range has significantly increased.
I hope to quantify that for you here after the rain lets up and I can get some decent riding days in.

LMK if you have any questions.

@jimbocrimbo, good write-up! It looks like you might want to shorten the lead from the battery mount to the Z624 male plug, for safety's sake, or maybe just wrap it around the plug. You (and @Jenny Mao) have answered all my questions regarding this kind of upgrade.

I wasted an hour or so scouring Alibaba and GlobalSources looking for a plug to match the Rize socket, but it sure looks proprietary. Two sources (Higo and Shenzhen Heng-Well Electric) looked to be potential suppliers of Rize's connector, but I could never find a match.

@jimbocrimbo Thank you so much for your post to explain how the new 52V 25Ah Polly installed on the Rize RX 2021.
@wanders It is Higo Z624 plug and socket we choose for replacing Rize socket.

Ahh nice you are the one who ordered the 24.5ah! I already have second battery on my MD but was looking to upgrade. Did you drill 3 new holes? My rivets are lose from the 15AH second battery, will you be running a strap? Pics installed please!

"I modified the bracket to make it fit on the bike properly which took a bit of time. The battery just barely fits into the bike frame after relocating the mounting holes."
Another 52V 25Ah Polly was installed as Rize RX Secondary Battery. Here are some pictures of the battery installed for reference.
