Ribble SLe connectivity

My Ribble SLe and Garmin Edge 1030 will not sync. According to Ribble the Garmin should have at least Bluetooth 4.0 or higher but I cannot find a Garmin Edge with that capability. My mobile phone works fine and the Ebikemotion app provides all necessary data. A friend has the same Ebikemotion X35 drive system and provides motor power setting and settings via the Edge 1030? Was considering the latest Edge 1040 Solar but not confident that it would be the right step for a £720 investment.
Any ideas, I’ve tried Ribble, Mahle and Wiggle but as yet no ideas!

I also have a Ribble SLe Endurance which i took delivery in June 2022 and trying to connect to the Garmin Remote button which can change the power assist up and down more easily than the button in the crossbar. However I’m having connection issues. Apparently in some cases you ‘may’ need an ANT+ which some of the X35 do not have only the latest kits have them installed in the mahle x35. I have contacted Mahle with the serial numbers of my x35 to ask if they can confirm that it has the ANT + built in. Also i have just had a reply suggesting that i need to disconnect the Garmin ConnectIQ which cud be interfering with the connection. I don’t have a edge 1030 but my friend has one and she has managed to connect to her Ribble Ok.

I have just spoken to Mahle this morning to check that my X35 had the ANT+ kit already within the bike and after searching for the serial number they confirmed it does. However they suggested that because it was old firmware, it needed updating so I am going to find out what stockist in the UK can do this. However, apparently the worst thing that can happen is that the battery will fail due to new update. However as this is under the guarantee it will be replaced, I am reluctant to tempt fate and get the motor updated with the new updates. I might just bite the bullet and get it done. Maybe speak to Mahle contact in your country. If you are in the UK the Number is 0190 290 7424. hope that helps

It is limited to Battery % and Travel Mode name (such as ECO) on Mahle X35. The actual rear wheel RPM might be transmitted via ANT+ for distance and speed calculation in Garmin or Wahoo.
Unfortunately the system has no sensors for Cadence or (rider's) Power.

Thank you for yr help. I am gradually getting a clearer picture of the limitations.
