Very Curious why a Nexus hub isn't being utilized more on e-bikes. The EG Zurich has a Nexus 7 speed hub which compliments the 36v 350 watt front hub nicely. It is my understanding that the Nexus 8 speed can handle the torque output of a crank motor set-up.
What I hate about the Nexus hubs is when it comes time to removing the wheel for service. Detaching the gear cable is kind of a pain, even after doing it many times.

A Nexus hub isn't any worse than dealing with an electric hub on the rear wheel, the Nexus hub is essentially maintenance-free. Sure, I understand the inconvenience of tire and tube replacement, wheel truing, and any work with on rear wheel. Mounting the bike in a bike stand, working in an upright position, in an orderly well-lit environment are precursors for minimizing the pain.
