RadRunner1 website mentions brushless gear hub motor in the description. From the internet people use the word brushless to mean a motor without gears. I'm confused. I am new to all this ebike stuff. I want to buy an ebike. What type of motor does the roadrunner1 have, a gear motor or a gearless motor?

Hi

That would be gearless to describe lack of gears like in a direct drive motor. The Radrunner1 is a geared motor.

Brushless is brushless, gearless/direct-dirve has no gears in the motor. Most e-bike motors these days have gears. A few bikes still use a direct drive hub motor. Direct-drive is the more correct term.

Brushless means the motor doesn't have brush.

Back in the day, you had to change motor brush periodically.

However, with brushless motor, you don't have to change the brush.
Thanks for replying. I am still searching for an ebike.
