Hi and thanks for welcoming me to the forum, can any one tell me if the controller on my 250 watt motor ebike would be ok/compatible with a Bafang 750 watt motor?

Many thanks
Many thanks,I have a kit with a rear wheel and Bafang 750 have the rest of the kit including the controller but all the plugs are different from the original one on the bike, the amps on my bird controller are 8amps-17, don’t know what the amps on the kit controller are, just wondering if the 8-17 amps would be enough for the 750?

Assuming you have a 48V battery,

8amp x 48V = 384W

Yeah, you can move the 750W using 384W of power, but it won't be efficient.
Due to stronger magnet on 750W motor, I suspect it might give you pulsing movement too.. but it might not.

Are you going to get a Bolton or Electro Bike World kit?

Not Bolton, kit, one I bought of eBay,has a rear fat wheel 26x4” 750 Bafang motor, controller and a lot of other parts,I was only wanting the wheel/motor and controller but the controller has different plugs on it so decided not to install and just use the controller on my bike but was unsure if I was gonna damage it.

You may damage the small controller by overheating it with something like an extended hill climb, but I don't think you'll damage the motor. If it's a good controller, it should try to limit or shut off the power completely when/if it starts getting dangerously hot.
