Quietkat Rancher trike power

I had the Quietkat Rancher 3 wheel electric trike for a couple years. It worked well but for 7000 watts of power it really was under powered.
Once you got it moving it was very nice but no hill climber and lost power in sand. I am a large guy which doesn't help but a 7000 watt bicycle would fly! not much weight difference it weighed i think 80 lbs
Why would the power be so low on them and a 1000 watt mid drive bike seems powerful

nobody? I am curious how the 1000 watt mid drive is supposed to be a wheelie popper and a 7000 watt hub drive was a dog !
I know mid drives uses the gears but 7000 watts is huge. I am large 6'2" and 270 lbs but why is there such a difference

Was your Quietkat actually using 7000 watts? Did you have a way to measure the wattage?

Rich C are you telling me they lied, false advertising lol
I liked the trike but it was under powered for hauling my fat a$$
I hope i am not disappointed with my 1000 watt mid drive bike.
I just want enough power to go through some sand on mostly level ground while hunting.
I am 6'2" and 270 lbs I do not expect 30 mph but 10 mph without pedaling would be nice.
I do not expect 30 miles range 5 would be good.
My bike is supposed to be here tomorrow so i will leave a review. I also figure I can change the chain ring if needed . The bike is listed for 30 mph plus I could gear way down.
Thank you by the way for an honest solid answer

7000 watts would be roughly 9.4 hp (imperial). Allowing for inefficiencies in the system, 7000 could easily translate to "7+" hp.

Once again, how were you measuring the power going to the motor? Chances are you didn't.
Did your Quietkat have a Cycle Analyst? There are a few youtube videos from Quietkat showing how to change the settings on the Cycle Analyst, maybe yours wasn't set correctly.

I called them and had my power maxed out . I did it while on the phone with them. I never measured anything I went by what they say in the add.
The trike was also tough to get traction with since front wheel drive in the sand. I have yet to ride the 1000 watt mid drive but the videos it seems very powerful.
Look at the Rambo 750 watt mid drive video climbing a hill without pedaling. My quietkat would never had attempted that hill in the video. I know hub motors are not supposed to be as powerful as mid drive but again you are not comparing a 1000 watt to a 1500 watt the Quietkat is supposed to be 7 times more powerful. Not trying to argue just trying to understand. Obviously you guys that figure out the watts to hp have more knowledge than me i never even thought of trying ;lol

I didn't feel you were trying to argue, I was only pointing out that 7000 watts could equal +7hp.

Looking at Quietkat's specs for the current 3 wheeler, I'd say they are probably stretching the truth. They claim "...and produces more than six (6) horsepower, which equates to over 6000+ watts." 6 hp would be approximately 4470 watts. Fresh off a charge the 60v battery might be 67v and at that voltage it would require around 67 amps. I couldn't find what controller they use but EM3ev has one that's rated for 60 amps so it might be possible but even then it probably wouldn't last long.

I did not mean you were arguing just wanted you to know I was not . I just don’t know enough about it so I ask questions

so my 1000 watt mid drive destroys the power the quietkat had. Its not even close i can zip up hills that the quietkat would never have gone up. In the sand the fat tire bike is awesome the quietkat would bog down and lose power i would have to get off and push.

Is it possible something is/was wrong with the quietkat, that would be my first impression from what you are describing and how the lower powered mid drive is so much stronger
