Priority Current battery/motor issue.

Hi guys. I have owned a Priority Current since January 2021. Just hit 1900 miles. I have been having an issue where the battery sinks with the mid-drive motor. It often stops supplying battery assist to the motor and sometimes even a grinding sound coming from the motor when battery assist stops. The bike is still under warranty but wanted some expert advice from you guys. Any words of advice? Thanks...

I buy my digital multimeter from newark.com . Tenma seems to come in calibration when I check it with zener diodes. My team leader & I wasted a couple of workdays disassembling & reassembling a device when we tested it with a Harbor Freight meter he owned and believed its lies.

On some brands the problem can be loose battery connector instead of internal to the battery. I don't know your bike.
As new batteries are from ~$400 to $1300 you might hasten to get this bike to the dealer before the warrenty expires.

My word of advice to you is to contact Priority and describe exactly what's going on & what steps are needed to have this inspected and repaired under warranty. Priority is a direct-to-home seller, so I am not sure what they may have in place as far as a repair network, but you need to find out. At this point, you can do a visual inspection of the mid drive system, wire runs, (not sure if this bike has a spoke magnet for the speed sensor, but you need to find out). Check for anything out of the ordinary and then contact Priority as per what the next step to make repairs would be. Any error codes stored in the display? How does one extract error codes with this drive system?

Disregard Indianajoe's advice about poking around with a volt meter. Unless you know what you are probing, you will cause a short, disabling the drive system or battery and voiding your warranty.

Thank you Mike TowpathTraveler for your sage advice. I contacted Priority and per their request sent them a video of the grinding noise coming from the motor. They promtly sent me a replacement motor, albeit rebuilt. Priority also contacted a local bike shop who was willing to do the replacement. I have since ridden the bike over 200 miles and everything seems to work flawlessly. Overall I've been very happy with the support I've gotten from Priority. And still love my Current. 😎
Ride on my brothers…
