Power outage

I'm happy enough with the 15.5mph limit. Having the higher limit would put me above what I used to achieve as a casual though enthusiastc cyclist. At my current level of fitness it gives me far more than I could have hoped for.
Once rolling on the flats the weight of the bike is not too noticeable and I get the advantage of it on the down hills, not just in the momentum but the stability it seems to offer.
My Daughter is my only bench mark at present due to the social distancing rules we have in place. Will be nice to see how it messures up when I can eventually join in with some of the club rides.
Dispite my weakness at the moment I will cruise past her on the hills, so its only fair I have to work so hard to stay with her at 18-20mph on the flats.
It certainly would be good if you could calibrate the maximum assist speed, certainly for matching the avere pace of group rides.
I've no doubt I will play with the individual power setting for each level as I get stronger just so I can keep improving. Get up the steep long stuff far easier than I ever used to on max settings as it is. Perhaps if I begin to surpass my old fitness levels I may start wishing for that higher speed limit.

Surpass your previous fitness level and you won't need the assist. Good to hear you're back into "it" Truthfully I don't really notice the Gains extra weight on the hills nowadays, and never really did on the flat. Mine weighs after a few replacements 24.5lbs which is not a great deal more than the old 'racing irons we used in the 60-70's If I do go out on my Storck or Trek, they do both feel 'livelier' not necessarily faster. However downhill they don't track as well as the Gain. What with the Gain having those wide forks, I would happily face long mountain drops with no fear.

Rob, 6 feet tall and 156lbs. I have been riding and racing since the 60's and can ride without too much effort at 15mph. But I always have level 1 switched on. A local 30 mile ride would usually include 1000 feet of climbing.
Interesting. Do owners of 20mph assist Gains, average 18mph? You still have to put in some effort.

In the late 80’s I completed the dreaded hotter than hell 100 in Texas in 5 and 1/2 hours. I am now old with fake knees but with the gain I can average 18 mph in level 1 for about an hour and yes, a lot of fricking work! The bike gives me a 2 mph bump in speed and a hard half century in under 3 hours is my job well done!
