Pedal assist sensor

I need some advice on an ebike I just bought. I purchased a Geleisen TT S1 ebike to replace Rans V-Rex-e with Bion-x e kit. After assembling the new bike & taking a test ride I was disappointed to say the least. The problem for me is the pedal assist mode, when I start off in any p assist mode the motor goes full power & when I stop pedaling there is a quite noticeable delay before the motor powers down. I new when I purchased the bike it had a cadence pas sensor rather than a torque sensor like the old Bion-x system but I wasn't expecting the pas to kick in at full power. As I see it my options are, to return the new bike ($100. cost to me) & start my bike search over, or keep the bike & DIY convert from the cadence sensor to a torque sensor (if such a conversion is possible) I was happy with the old Bion-x system and would buy another but the old problem of an obsolete system. Any advice on this dilemma will be appreciated. Thanks....Vic.

The same thing happened with my first ebike.
I found it so annoying that I installed a KT controller/display.

It's a relatively straightforward install that gives you control over the power with a cadence sensing hub drive e-bike.

This thread covers most of my learning process.
I ran into a problem where my motor cable connector was proprietary but that probably wouldn't be an issue for you.
