Of course they don't say whether prior consumption of red wine was related to him going down the ravine...

This reminds me of a joke:

I bought a bottle of rum and put it in my bike basket.

Just as I was about to leave, I thought for a moment. If I fall off my bike, the bottle might break.

To avoid that, I drank all the rum before leaving the store.

This turned out to be a very good decision, because I fell off my bike seven times on my way home.
