One year check up

For mine and the wife’s e bike that is. It’s actually been about 11 months and when we bought them we got a free check up on them, which of course ended up costing $20. They put new brake pads on mine and fixed the chain dropping off the front cassette.

One thing they did was print out a bunch of statistics on the bike. For example a percentage of how much of each assist level you used. The one that really shocked me was that one third of my 2100 miles was unassisted. I always ride with it in eco and usually tour mode. I assume the 800 and some miles was coasting and going down hills. My wife’s bike has around 850 miles on it and about 25% of her miles were unassisted.

I too took my ebike in for the first year free check up and everything was A-OK, May. Now 3 months later, I have a red blinking light on my controller. No bike riding this weekend and I'm a bit on pins and needles waiting to find out what's going on with the ebike. Such a bummer!

Some how the free checkup was $5 per bike, so that means the brake pad replacement was $10. The idea is probably to get you in the store to buy stuff.
