Good day to all. My name is Dan Fulmer, and at 79 year old, I got a Specialized Haul short tail a few months ago. After riding and pedaling all over California's many roads and mountain passes for over 50 years, I had to give up riding a regular pedal road bike. The reason was because the replacement knee lost bend and is basically won't bend more than 90 degrees. Can't get over the top of the pedal stroke anymore, so have both pedals on the Specialized bike set as footpegs rather than one up and one down. The bike quickly accelerates to 20 MPH and gets me around San Francisco with ease. I'm quite happy with is so far.
But a week ago an error code came up on the HMI display and the bike will not respond to the throttle anymore. Batt is full charge. The error code is E005. All wires appear to be tight and connected. I've taken the bike back to where I bought it and I'm waiting for their response. Does anyone know what the code stands for and what might be wrong? So far, navigating the Specialized website is very difficult and not much help. Thanks

I don't see an error code of 005 but I see one for 05 that concerns non-working throttle. You might give this a shot:

05 Code

Check Specialized 05 e-Bike Error Code :

Code Meaning:

Throttle error and throttle does not work

Steps to fix 05 code

1. Unplug and replug your throttle making sure to line up the arrows and pins to ensure proper connection. Make sure the throttle pins aren't bent or damaged.

2. If Step 1 does not solve the error, unplug and replug all of the connections on your kit Main Wiring Harness (display, throttle, brake levers), including the Main Wiring Harness connection with the motor lead and Battery connections with the motor leads. Make sure no pins are damaged on the Main Wiring Harness and line up the arrows and pins when reconnecting everything to ensure proper connection.

3. If Step 2 does not solve the error, unplug just the throttle from your kit. Does the error go away? If so, you most likely need a new throttle.

Welcome to the forum Dan.
