This year I have my average up to 8.0 mph, with liberal use of throttle up hills. 30 miles, 3 hours 40 minutes. Down from 5 hours 10 minutes the first trip early June. About half the time I use no electricity at all. Usually I start 30 mile trips early May but the bike was stuck in low 2nd speed, 2 mph as I replaced 4 components 8000 and 4000 miles old. Also had zero brake most of May, or else scraping all the way. I limited trips to 8 miles RT until June.
I really don't like going fast most places; the pavement is not up to it. Not with 60+ lb supplies & no suspension. Where the pavement is perfect (the industrial park) is one place where I pedal unpowered.
Rest pulse is down from 80 in April to 72 now. I've lost 5 lb since April. I was really out of shape because I sprained my foot pedaling into a 40 mph wind in March and had to limit force 6 weeks while it healed. No battery in March, it freezes here until mid May.

Will never beat that average. Maybe extend the distance, but not the speed. Not over 11 mph. If in great shape might go to Madison 80 mile RT or Acme, 100 mi RT. Goal is rest pulse 66, 8 more lb fat lost by September.
