A nice read. What he feels and likes about owning an e-bike is my sentiment exactly but unfortunately, we have made little progress in the past decades in convincing our respective governments that cycling should not only be tolerated but positively encouraged. To prove my point, below is a letter written to the same newspaper over 18 years ago. Sadly, it could have been written yesterday:

To the Editor:

The article about electric bicycles rightly points out that governments are loath to recognize any vehicle that doesn't have four wheels and a motor. Bicyclists have known that for years; they get no "clean air" tax credits or benefits of any kind. Someday people will look back in puzzlement at this era. I already do.
