Hi everyone! I’m a university student from northern Colorado. Haven’t ridden a bike more than five times since I was 10 years old…

I decided to get an e-bike recently because I spent the last academic year driving the 2 miles to campus every day, and felt like a lazy dingus. I also have POTS, which means I can’t tolerate cardio well, but need to do cardio to get my heart rate down. So, my options for non-standing cardio are rowing, swimming, and biking. The previous year, I had tried riding a regular bike to school a few times, but didn’t do it much because whenever my heart rate would peak (on a long hill, usually) I had a lot of trouble staying stable without swerving in my lane, which felt really unsafe. I got an e-bike so that I could adjust the assist levels to avoid overexerting myself while still getting some degree of exercise.

I ended up settling on the Velotric Fold 1 Plus, mostly because I like that it can fold, so that I can put it in my tiny apartment/car, and it was also the most affordable option with a torque sensor that I was decently confident wouldn’t burst into flames while I wasn’t looking at it. I’ve only gotten a chance to ride it once so far, as I got it right before finals week, but I was honestly surprised at how fun it was. I hadn’t actually had fun while exercising since I was 7 or 8 years old! I’m excited to spend the summer practicing with it on the paved trails around my city.

Welcome aboard from a former Coloradan (SE Denver)!

Once you have some time in the saddle, would like to hear more about your ebike's role in the juggling act between too little and too much exercise.

If you get a chance, please post some photos of your bike and the places you ride. My 3 favorite forum threads are the ones for sharing ride photos.
