My teenage son is thinking he might want to bike to school. He could ride on trails in North Vancouver BC - down the valley to the river across the bridge and back up the other side. According to trail forks It is about 3.5 km down, then up, and approx 230 meters elevation each way. https://www.trailforks.com/ridelog/planner/view/71480
He is not fit, so I am thinking if we converted this bike to an ebike he might be more likely to stick with this plan. This would be year round, and it rains here, a lot!
I have been watching a few videos, looking online and reading a bit, but am finding I am more rather than less confused. Since this bike has good components, I am thinking it would be suitable to convert. What do you think? What are the key considerations for this type of riding?
Thanks for your patience with the noob questions.

That bike is an amazing bike! A bike serious mountain bikers use. Is it a good candidate to convert? You can convert most bikes. Personally I wouldn't try to mount a mid drive kit on that bike, it has a press fit bottom bracket. I'd consider one of the Grin Technologies hub conversion kits.
