New mwmber from NY

From upstate rural NY. Yeah, I guess most people think of NYC when they hear New York but there’s a whole different world up here
No longer in NY, but was there1st 21 years. Still consider anything North and West of Hudson Valley "Upstate".

I'll guess North Country with your description.

People on the east side of the Hudson down south talk totally differently, more like Hartford, than people in Buffalo who sound like Cleveland. Yes, and most people don't think of NY as a place where people fish in the Spring, put up hay in the Summer, hunt deer in the Fall, and make maple syrup up by Quebec City, and can tune into French radio stations anytime.

Question:
If you could be given a dream pair of box final game World Series tickets by God just behind home plate to see your team win the championship in 2026, would it be the underdog Blue Jays or the Yankees? By the way, 250 years ago, yankee, meant wanker.

Welcome!

To me anything north of NYC and LI is "upstate"... but I grew up and still spend a lot of time in the Hudson valley mountains so so I guess I want to emphasize my distance from the city.

NY has some weird ebike laws... class 3 is 25 mph, not 28, and only legal in NYC. Elsewhere in NY, class 1 & 2 bikes are only allowed on roads with 30 mph or lower speed limits. Whether that's actually enforced I don't know.

Neither... The amazin' Mets!

I grew up in a 200 year-old farmhouse in the far east Hudson Valley, surrounded by pasture on three sides, with views of purple hills, and a 90-acre apple orchard behind. Horse country. I fished everyday that I was not skating on the pond. I would sleep deep in the huge maple leaf pile each November's full moon with my dad and a dog. My girlfriend was German and we would make for the out-barns to be together whenever we could as just a kid. It is beautiful country, with fond memories.
