Hi everyone,

just joined the forum to gather good information and share ideas. I had always wanted to build a board track racer from a bicycle. I was considering a 4 stroke gas engine but while sitting in a Tesla, I thought, Why not an electric motor? So here I am!

Good choice on going electric. There is actually a thread on here somewhere about ebike racing. Can't find it now, but please keep us posted on your build, maybe in the advanced kits forum. Welcome to EBR !

The Tesla is a good comparison. Electric motors have torque off the line which makes them so much more fun to ride. One Easter morning a few years ago a guy on a Harley laughed at me and jokingly said, 'Wan'na Race'? We were at a red light and urban traffic was gridlocked. I had an overly powerful motor at the time which had no feel. I beet him to to the next light and the one after. He could not maneuver as well and had to try to keep his revs up. His heavy bike was slower off the line and had straight pipes. My faster at low speeds electric bike was silent.
This is not an ideal graphic but you get the idea. The photo is the bike I rode that day.
